# Full admission into the Public Health Program required. In order to apply, students must have taken (or be currently enrolled in) at least 9 credit hours of coursework with the HLTH prefix that, at a minimum, includes HLTH 2203  Introduction to Public Health and HLTH 4900  Practicum in Public Health. See program announcements for application details.
@ Students admitted to the Accelerated Degree Pathway (ADP) in Public Health must enroll in the graduate level versions of this course. Students may take only three 5000-level courses as part of the accelerated program.

Minimum Grade Requirements


  1. Average in all college course work and course work at UCO: 2.00
  2. Average in the major: 2.50
  3. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in all courses in the major.

Admission to the Major:


Students must apply to the Public Health Program by completing the application found at the link on the Public Health Program page. For spring admission, online applications must be submitted on or before the second Friday of September. For fall admission, online applications must be submitted on or before the last Friday of January.

Accelerated BS/MPH


UCO’s MPH (Master of Public Health) in Community Engagement has partnered with the B.S. in Public Health so that approved students may take up to nine credit hours of 5000-level MPH courses during their senior year of the B.S. program. These courses will count toward both the B.S. and MPH degrees. A formal application to the MPH Community Engagement program and an approval from the Department of Kinesiology & Health Studies are required. Requirements for the MPH program are located in the UCO Graduate Catalog under Public Health - Community Engagement (MPH).

Up to nine credit hours of the following courses can be used to satisfy both the B.S Public Health and the MPH in Community Engagement:

  • HLTH 5223 Contemporary Issues in Public Health
  • HLTH 5333 Health Equity
  • HLTH 5443 Leadership and Management in Public Health
