Board Certified Behavior Analyst
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is an individual who is certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Behavior analysts apply the principles of behavioral science to design, implement, and evaluate behavior change programs. Behavior change programs are used to increase and maintain socially important behaviors, and decrease or eliminate problematic behaviors. BCBAs work in a variety of environments including community, clinical, and school settings. BCBAs work with a variety of populations including people with disabilities, typically developing people, organizations and others who may benefit from behavior change. The Behavior Analyst Certification Board has approved the course sequence as meeting the coursework requirement for eligibility to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst examination. In addition to the course sequence, the candidate must complete 2000 hours of supervised field experience. Field experience hours may be collected under a BCBA as soon as the candidate begins the coursework. This course sequence is only available to those who have completed or are currently enrolled in a master’s degree program in education, psychology or behavior analysis. Please visit bacb.com for more information on degree requirement standards. General Guidelines
- The applicant must satisfy all requirements related to formal admission to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma. Applications may be completed online.
- A Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, or Behavior Analysis, the course sequence, and a 2000-hour supervised field experience must be earned prior to applying for the BACB certification exam
- A grade of B or higher must be obtained for each course in the course sequence
- In addition to acceptance to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies, acceptance into the BCBA course sequence is based on the submission of the program application, a copy of the applicant’s transcript(s) and recommendations from two (2) people familiar with the applicant’s suitability for graduate study in behavior analysis
- Admission to the program will be by cohort group.
