The master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is designed to complete the academic and practical preparation of individuals seeking the professional credentials for working with persons who exhibit disordered communication, including prevention and treatment. The program is designed to prepare individuals to serve in a variety of professional settings and with a variety of populations. The program offers a professional speech-language pathology degree that will provide graduate students with the knowledge, skills and clinical education necessary to satisfy requirements for the Oklahoma State Department teaching certificate, the Oklahoma Board of Examiners license, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology. This program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association*. Program objectives are met by insuring students meet the ASHA 2020 Certification Standards.

Basic courses in normal and disordered human communication completed either as part of the undergraduate major or as graduate prerequisites, must precede application for admission to the graduate program. Specific prerequisite requirements are elaborated in the Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program Application Packet and include required prerequisites to apply and undergraduate courses required to meet ASHA certification standards. Upon admission to the graduate program, students complete graduate level courses and any undergraduate deficiencies to further their understanding of normal and disordered human communication. Students must accumulate a minimum number of practicum clock hours and demonstrate competencies in prevention, assessment, and treatment across a variety of disorders, settings, and populations. The Speech-Language Pathology graduate program consists of six consecutive, sequential semesters, beginning in the summer semester. Completion of this degree requires 400 clinical clock hours and 50 academic graduate hours.

Application Deadline: January 31 to be considered for the following summer semester.
