This master’s degree program prepares learners to excel in various business training and government service-oriented environments, career technology education, corporate training, and non-profit community services programs. The curriculum integrates practices and theories from adult education, human resources, training, and organizational development. Students acquire highly transferable skills such as:

  • Designing inclusive workplace learning and teaching strategies
  • Developing effective curriculum
  • Leading and implementing learning initiatives
  • Cultivating a positive organizational climate and culture.

A graduate in this major will have the essential knowledge, skills, and mind-set to serve as a professional wherever continuing education is valued: Talent Development, Training, Instructional Design, Virtual Learning, Coaching and Mentoring, Learning Management, Human Resources, Managing Non-Profit Education

Admission Requirements


Submit the following items to:

                                 Jackson College of Graduate Studies

                                 Edmond, OK 73034

 

• Online application for admission (www.uco.edu/graduate/).

• Official copies of graduate and undergraduate transcripts from each institute attended with all degrees posted. All transcripts must be from accredited institutions. Undergraduate transcripts must show a minimum 2.75 overall GPA or 2.75 GPA in the last 60 hours attempted.*

• Submit a personal statement along with the application. This is a short essay to introduce yourself, discuss your career goals and interest in our program. This statement is limited to two pages in length.

• Students with a native language other than English must submit evidence of English language proficiency. See Admission to Graduate Studies - English Language Proficiency

Other Requirements


• Plan of Study. Each student must file a plan of study with their graduate advisor and the Jackson College of Graduate Studies (JCGS) by the end of the first semester of graduate work. The plan must be signed and dated by the student and the graduate program advisor before it can be official.

• After admissions and before enrollment in the first semester, each student must make an appointment with their advisor to discuss course enrollment. ADED 5031 Introduction to Adult and Higher Education, must be taken the first semester.

• Academic Standards. Meet the following course work standards:

  • Overall GPA of 3.00 of higher;
  • Passing all core courses with at least a “B”, and having no more than six credit hours of “C”.
  • No more than six advisor-approved hours from traditional correspondence courses.

• Complete writing assessment with passing score during first semester.

• Final Requirements. Apply for graduation through the JCGS by the advertised deadline.
