The following courses or their equivalent are required and may satisfy portions of the additional degree. These courses are necessary to meet accreditation and national standards for Forensic DNA testing laboratories.

Major Requirements

Forensic Science - Molecular Biology: 30 Minimum Required Hours

Forensic Science Core: 12 Credit Hours

Forensic Science-Molecular Biology: 12 Credit Hours

Statistics: 3 Credit Hours

STAT 2103 - Intro Statistics for Sciences OR equivalent OR higher with a course prefix from CJ, ECON, MATH, POL, PSY, SOC, STAT or other subject areas that has statistics in the title.

Capstone: 3 Credit Hours

FRSC 4900 - Practicum in Forensic Science (3 hours) OR
FRSC 4930 - Independent Study in Forensic Science (3 hours) OR
FRSC 4950 - Internship in Forensic Science (3 hours)

Additional Degree (Biology, Biology-Biomedical Sciences, or Biology-Medical Laboratory Science)

This is not a stand-alone program. There are two mechanisms for earning this degree: (1) Earn a concurrent UCO degree in one of the majors below or (2) After possessing an appropriate related bachelor’s degree, complete this degree as a second bachelor’s degree.

B.S. Biology, B.S. Biology - Biomedical Sciences, or B.S. Biology - Medical Laboratory Science

The number of credits needed to meet degree requirements exceeds 124 hours and will vary according to course selection.

Minimum Grade Requirements

Average in all college course work and course work at UCO: 2.25
A minimum grade of “C” must be earned in all courses in the major to count toward meeting degree requirements.
