ACM 2473 - Contemporary Music Appreciation

This course will introduce students to major historical, cultural and technological trends that affect American popular music, and to highlight the biggest artists, genres, and trends that defined pop music over the past sixty years. Our lens of examination will be focused on the study of #1 songs as recorded by the Billboard Hot #100. Students will also be introduced to different ways of listening to music and to different psychological theories explaining why we listen to music.
