CJ 3513 - Legal Orientation


Legal Orientation is an overview of criminal law, the Oklahoma court system, and legal terminology. The course will include fundamentals of tort law, civil liability, and explore concepts of immunity. The course will also expose students to the legal elements required of peace officers in serving both civil and criminal documents. Students will learn the basics of state and federal forfeiture statutes, become familiar with legal issues surrounding the use of force, the Oklahoma Juvenile Code, laws governing Indian country jurisdiction, and immigration law.
