Core Program Requirements: 18 Credit Hours
Political Science Foundation: 9 Credit Hours
Complete three courses from ONE of the following groups. American Politics
Select three (3) of the following courses: International Affairs
Select three (3) of the following courses: Law & Courts
Select three (3) of the following courses: Political Science Focused Electives: 9 Credit Hours
Any Political Science course excluding those used to satisfy Political Science Foundation requirements. Modern Language Requirement: 0-8 Credit Hours
All students completing a B.A. in Political Science shall complete the first two semesters of a second language. Students may alternatively fulfill the language requirement by proof of academic work in the second language (CLEP test through the Elementary II level, for example SPAN 1224), four years of high school language courses, or transfer work from another institution. Electives to bring total to: 124 Minimum Required Hours
Minimum Grade Requirements
Average in (a) all college course work, (b) course work at UCO, and (c) major courses: 2.50 Accelerated Degree Pathway (ADP)
Students in the B.A. in Political Science or Political Science - Public Service programs are eligible to pursue a M.A. in Political Science or a M.A. in Political Science - International Affairs degree while still an undergraduate, which means that they can take courses that will count toward both the B.A. and M.A. degrees. A formal application to the M.A. in Political Science program or the M.A. in Political Science - International Affairs program and approval from the Department of Political Science are required. For more information, please see the Accelerated Degree Pathway requirements for the M.A. in Political Science or M.A. in Political Science - International Affairs in the Graduate Catalog. Students in the B.A. in Political Science or Political Science - Public Service programs are eligible to pursue a Master of Public Administration in Public & Nonprofit Management (M.P.A.) degree or an M.P.A. in Urban Management while still an undergraduate, which means that they can take courses that will count toward both the B.A. and M.P.A. degrees.
