OSU-OKC Applied Associate in Science - Police Science to UCO Bachelor of Arts - Criminal Justice-Police

The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), in collaboration with Oklahoma State University-OKC (OSUOKC), participates in articulated transfer agreements to assist students in transferring smoothly from the associate degree to the baccalaureate degree. These agreements express a shared commitment to student access and success in higher education.

This document specifies courses to be taken at OSU-OKC and courses to be taken at UCO to meet this agreement.

Applied Associate in Science (A.A.S.) - Police Science


Students should refer to the associate degree requirements and an academic advisor for associate degree details to ensure a successful transition to UCO.

University of Central Oklahoma University Core


This section is an outline of the UCO University Core. University Core areas not completed as part of the A.A.S. degree at the community college need to be completed as part of the UCO bachelor’s degree requirements.

Written and Oral Communication: 9 hours


English Composition: 6 hours

Physical Science: 3-4 hours

Critical Inquiry and Aesthetic Analysis: 6 hours

Cultural and Language Analysis: 3-4 hours


Second Language: 4 hours

Students should consult with an academic advisor for appropriate course selection for specific majors.

If a student can prove Novice 4 proficiency in a second language either by 2 years of a second language in high school or successful testing, then the student may select three hours from the following cultural analysis courses.

Social and Behavioral Analysis: 3 hours

The courses listed in this section are required at OSU-OKC for this major and will also meet UCO major requirements. The OSU-OKC course is followed by the UCO equivalent or substituted course.

Credited courses completed as part of the A.A.S. that do not meet a specific UCO degree requirement transfer to UCO as electives and may count toward the 124-hour minimum. Students should consult an academic advisor to determine how other A.A.S. courses apply toward the bachelor’s degree. Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) - Criminal Justice-Police


Degrees from UCO have requirements applicable to all degrees and requirements specific to the program/major.

Degree Requirement Minimums for All Programs/Majors


Students must meet all bachelor’s degree requirements at UCO to include minimums of:

  • 40 hours of upper division coursework
  • 30 hours in residence at UCO
  • 15 of the last 30 hours must be taken in residence at UCO
  • 60 hours from baccalaureate granting institutions
  • 124 total hours

This section details the course requirements for this major at UCO. The UCO course is followed by the community college equivalent or substituted course. Some courses may be taken at the community college but may or may not apply to the associate major or degree. Consult with an academic advisor for that information.

Modern Language Requirement: 0-8 hours

All students completing a B.A. in Criminal Justice - Police shall complete the first two semesters of a second language. Students may alternatively fulfill the language requirement by proof of academic work in the second language (CLEP test through LANG 1224), four years of high school language courses, or transfer work from another institution. (Spanish highly recommended for Criminal Justice majors.)

Minimum Grade Requirements


  • Average in all college course work and course work at UCO: 2.50
  • Average in major courses: 2.50

Electives


All UCO degrees require a minimum of 124 credit hours. Electives may be needed to bring total credit hours to 124.
