2023-2024 Transfer Agreements Catalog

RSC Associate in Applied Science - Multimedia Digital Design to UCO Bachelor of Arts-Strategic Communications-Strategic Communications

The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), in collaboration with Rose State College (RSC), participates in articulated transfer agreements to assist students in transferring smoothly from the associate degree to the baccalaureate degree. These agreements express a shared commitment to student access and success in higher education.

This document specifies courses to be taken at RSC and courses to be taken at UCO to meet this agreement.

Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) - Multimedia Digital Design

Students should refer to the associate degree requirements and an academic advisor for associate degree details to ensure a successful transition to UCO.

University of Central Oklahoma University Core

This section is an outline of the UCO University Core. University Core areas not completed as part of the A.A.S. degree at the community college need to be completed as part of the UCO bachelor’s degree requirements.

If a student can prove Novice 4 proficiency in a second language either by 2 years of a second language in high school or successful testing, then the student may select three hours from the following cultural analysis courses.

Credited courses completed as part of the A.A.S. that do not meet a specific UCO degree requirement transfer to UCO as electives and may count toward the 124-hour minimum. Students should consult an academic advisor to determine how other A.A.S. courses apply toward the bachelor’s degree. Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) - Strategic Communications-Strategic Communications

Degrees from UCO have requirements applicable to all degrees and requirements specific to the program/major.

Degree Requirement Minimums for All Programs/Majors

Students must meet all bachelor’s degree requirements at UCO to include minimums of:

40 hours of upper division coursework
30 hours in residence at UCO
15 of the last 30 hours must be taken in residence at UCO
60 hours from baccalaureate granting institutions
124 total hours

Frequently, students attempt to take upper division courses in other Mass Communication majors but lack the prerequisite gateway course. The following are “gateway” courses which may be taken as electives:

Modern Language Requirement: 0-8 hours

All students completing a B.A. in Strategic Communications shall complete the first two semesters of a second language. Students may alternatively fulfill the language requirement by proof of academic work in the second language (CLEP test through LANG 1224), four years of high school language courses, or transfer work from another institution.

Minimum Grade Requirements

Average in all college course work and course work at UCO: 2.00
Average in major courses: 2.50

Electives

All UCO degrees require a minimum of 124 credit hours. Electives may be needed to bring total credit hours to 124.
