Major Requirements: 39-55 hours
Modern Language - Spanish
Elementary Spanish: 0-8 hours
- SPAN 1114 Elementary Spanish I (OCCC course SPAN 1115)
- SPAN 1224 Elementary Spanish II (OCCC course SPAN 1225)
A maximum of eight hours of credit for Elementary Spanish may be earned by examination.
Alternatively, two (2) years of high school Spanish may be substituted for SPAN 1114 and another two (2) years of high school Spanish for SPAN 1224. This fulfills the language requirement but conveys no credit hours toward graduation. Evaluation of a student’s language skills may lead to placement in a more advanced course and waiving of prerequisite courses. Only testing through acknowledged processes (CLEP or AP, for example) conveys credit hours for prerequisite or lower-level language courses.

The same testing or placement conditions apply here as for Elementary Spanish. (To be taken at OCCC)
