DES 4703 - Advanced Typography


This studio course provides an advanced exploration of type, typographic design, and typographic communication. Course projects address font selection, layout, grid systems, type mechanics, and letterform manipulation. This class will continue an exploration of the principles of graphic design, the creative problem-solving process, conceptualization, type and image relationships, symbology, and presentation skills. Students are encouraged to take risks, to develop their own identities as designers, and to expand their problem-solving methodologies as well as visual vocabularies.

Credit Hours: 3

Prerequisites: DES 2163  AND DES 4523  

Enrollment Restrictions: Junior or senior standing.
