AESS 4823 - Nature and Characteristics of the Adult Learner A course designed to familiarize the student with some of the learning theories and their implications for education of adults. Emphasis is on application of principles of psychology and learning to the learner; understanding of the characteristics of the learner; differences to be expected between teaching adults and/or adolescents; adaptation of the teaching techniques to the adult personality; and adaptation of subject matter content to the adult.
